Dear Applicant,
Welcome to the Central Connecticut Board #6
Association of Approved Basketball Officials. Our organization is
established to train and educate high school basketball officials in the
central Connecticut area. We belong to a larger international
organization comprised of several thousand men and women officials.
We welcome your interest
in basketball officiating. Our job is to help you begin a successful
career. We have dedicated individuals in our organization and are very
proud of our reputation throughout Connecticut.
There are several steps to
becoming an “approved basketball official”. It is our responsibility to
help you complete these steps. The first step requires a successful
score on the national high school basketball rules exam, which will be
given on November 3, 2008. Upon a successful score of the rules
exam, you will then be assisted by our New Member Training Committee and
must successfully complete a “floor exam”, whereby you are evaluated as
you officiate recreational basketball games. You will learn more about
this and the time period for its completion from our New Member Training
Committee.
It is a rare individual
who is able to successfully pass the rules exam without sufficient
review of the national rules book and attendance at our scheduled
sessions. We expect a commitment from you. We believe we have a
well-developed program to assist you.
Enclosed is a schedule of
our review sessions. All sessions will be held at Conard High School in
West Hartford and begin promptly at 7:00 and conclude at 8:30. We will
have study materials available for each session and share past test
questions and answers to help your test preparation. We will be
available at 6:30 and until 9:00 for additional review.
We love the game of
basketball and fully understand the critical role for basketball
officials. We look forward to your participation. Please call us if
you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Peter
